Shoes

First off, not to alarm you all, but my running shoes got stolen. Yeah we have apartment inspections, just the ones by the apartment director to check if the electrical is working and such. Well, two days after, I went to put on those shoes I brought with me and the were missing. I knew where I put them. They were right next to my closet, but they weren’t there any more. My comp and I scoured our apartment trying to find them, but to no avail. Now my only casual pair of shoes are the grey high tops that are almost falling apart…😞😩

The investigator, M. C., is doing really well. He is a little bit slower with how he learns and progresses, but he is still pushing forward. He practically told us how the church that Christ established was lost from the earth and couldn’t be brought back until Christ and God did so themselves. It really helped us put into understanding the Restoration of the Gospel. He isn’t ready to come to church but he is now reading the Book of Mormon and believes that it is a least somewhat true. He’ll get there. Probably not before my comp goes home, but he’ll get there.

The weather out here has been bipolar at best. Last week we had snow no the ground and this week it all melted, then turned to ice, then melted again. I’ve just been wanting to see one snow storm before I leave. Hopefully it happens and we get an orange-out. That would be so cool.

Heavenly Father Answers Prayers

So church this week was extremely stressful. We got an investigator, T, to come, but the thing is that very few scriptures were brought up. I only counted three, and in Gospel Principles (which is the basics) members talked about deep doctrine. I’m so glad that T. didn’t really get what they were saying, or else he would have never wanted to meet with us again. Basically, I had to pray the entire time during church that he would give us a chance to explain what he heard yesterday, which he did. Heavenly Father truly answers prayers!
Elder Monsen and I are doing great! We are actually starting on another poster together. It’s going to be great!!
We had some changes to big rules this week, like the missionary schedule and p-day. Our schedule has more freedom and our p-days are longer, but we didn’t manage our time well this time so I’m getting my emails out late.
Well, sorry again for the short and late email. I hope you all have a great week. I’ll do better emailing next week. I’m still adjusting to the new schedule. You should totally check out he changes online. They’re awesome! Talk to ya next week!

Average Week with a Possessed iPad

Hey, what’s up? How was everyone’s week? Did you do anything interesting or was it just another day in the grind? I know that it has been a while, so something has to have happened. Either way, I hope that it was a nice and productive last few weeks for all of y’all.
So these last couple weeks have been interesting. Almost all the people we had been working with have disappeared. They either aren’t interested anymore or we just can’t get in contact with them. This means that we basically have been out trying to find more people. We’ve actually found some pretty solid people. One of them is a man named. He’s super awesome and basically told us that Christ’s church, that was lost after the death of the Apostles, could only be restored by God, that man alone could never do it. We totally agree and shared the event of Jospeh Smith’s vision with him. It was one of the highlights of my week.
Well, not much happened since the last time, but I’ve still been studying in the Book of Mormon recently. I think that it is impressive to see how powerful the Spirit truly is. It’s able to teach a man how to build a ship. It’s able to help a father protect his family. It’s able to guide a young boy to say a prayer that would change the world. I would challenge each of you to write down the blessings that each of you see in your lives this week and see how Heavenly Father and His Spirit have blessed you and helped you.
Well I hope you al have a good week and remember… Stay humble my friends.

Quick Update

It’s so weird. Today I was looking at the date, and it just hit me that, as of today, I only have 11 months left until I’m home. My last companion is probably going to hate me. I’ll be able to sing 🎶I’ll be home for Christmas🎶. Isn’t that crazy?
Well, things are going well in my area and with my comp. That poster that I sent you, yeah, we did that together. The left is his side and the right is mine. We even colored it. We are also trying to find more people because we are having a hard time getting out lately, because Elder Monsen got pretty sick. We still got some work done. It was just a lot slower this week.
Thanks for the emails. I can’t wait to hear from you guys again. Talk to you soon.

It’s Gone to the Bugs

What’s up? How’s everyone doing? How’s your New Year been so far? Mine’s been pretty okay.
So you’re probably wondering about the title for this email. Well, we were teaching this guy with a member when I just so happened to look at the chair I was sitting in and saw something crawling on it. I started poking it with my iPad to get a better look at it. Well, I figured out it was a bed bug. Yeah… I wasn’t exactly happy about that, but I didn’t make a fuss about it. I waited till the end of the lesson so that I didn’t completely ruin it. We then proceeded to the member’s to burn the little buggers in his natural gas dryer. I’m sure that killed them all off. We almost burnt all our clothes. Either way, it was an interesting night. It even involved a call to our mission president. Yeah, it was pretty crazy.

So also, we’ve found a new person who is interested. His name is M. He’s super cool and loves the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. We knocked into him one day, and he is just the coolest. We only had one lesson with him, but he really enjoys learning about the restored Gospel. I really look forward to the next lesson we have with him.
Anyway, this week I’ve been reading in the Book of Mormon again, and it’s still about enduring to the end. I just remembered today a part that I read a while back. A prophet’s family is complaining to him because he took them out of their homeland, Jerusalem, and brought them to the wilderness. His whole family thought he was crazy and was grumbling all along the way, all except his youngest son. That son got a special blessing from the Lord that he would be a ruler and be given a promised land. I think it’s amazing to see how our attitude affects everything. The other members of the family did what he asked, but the youngest got the blessings of it all. Basically, next time someone asks you or I to do the dishes or clean the floors, maybe we should set the grumbling aside for a moment and watch what happens because of it. though it may not be a promised land, I’m sure it’ll be better than simply having clean floors or dishes.
Well, that’s all for this week. I hope you all have a great one, and remember… Stay humble my friends.

Punch it Elder Monsen (Sequel to “Punch it Elder Lutes)

Well, these couple weeks were pretty good. We had Christmas, which is always a party. A few families invited us over, and guess what…they actually gave us presents. They didn’t have to, but I guess they just wanted us to feel like we were back home to an extent. It was really nice of them. We also had a great Christmas dinner with the other Elders in the ward. Afterward, we went back home and tried to see some people, but that didn’t really work. We ended up back at a member’s house to sync our iPads.
We had an interesting moment this week. We were out trying to see some less active last night out in the middle of nowhere, and I almost drove past the house we were looking for, so I slowed down a lot. The only problem with that was that there were people on the porch, so that probably looked a little suspicious. I decided to just drive past the house and park, hoping that they didn’t really notice. Yeah…that didn’t work. The next thing we know, there a searchlight being pointed at our car and a person running toward us. We were exactly sure if it was going happy less active or an angry. Luckily turns out that it was just a guy seeing if we were alright. We had a nice little chat with him and went along our merry way.
Well, I’ve been studying enduring to the end in the Book of Mormon. It’s interesting to see the stark contrast between those who endure, and well, and those who don’t. Those who don’t are always complaining and angry. I find it funny how when we discard commandment our lives start to go down the bowl. We may have a lot of money or power, but we will always be angry and unhappy.
Well, I hope to hear from all of you. I wish you all a happy new year and remember…Stay humble my friends.
